St. Dominic Parish presents 4th annual Highlands Octoberfest

WEST HIGHLAND — St. Dominic Parish celebrates its 4th annual Highlands Oktoberfest on Saturday, October 15 from 2:00pm to 9:00pm at the St. Dominic’s Church parking lot located on the corner of Federal and 29th Ave. St. Dominic’s Oktoberfest is a neighborhood beer festival focused on highlighting and promoting local businesses, local musicians, local breweries, and local food. Last year was the event’s biggest Oktoberfest yet, with over 1,200 neighbors and friends in attendance.

St. Dominic’s stages this annual event to introduce residents, businesses, and other neighborhood entities to each other in a spirit of true community building.

“Oktoberfest is our parish’s way of saying ‘we are here—you are welcome,’” states Fr. Wesley Dessonville, Parochial Vicar at St. Dominic Parish. “It began as a passion project by our growing young adult’s group and has transformed into a massive celebration of the Highlands and its ever-changing spirit, of which St. Dominic’s has served as a cornerstone for more than 125 years. It is also simply a fun opportunity to harken back to the religious roots of beer, allowing many of our parishioners and Dominicans to create a collaborative craft brew specifically for the occasion.”

St. Dominic’s Oktoberfest will feature taps from local breweries, including Diebolt Brewing, Factotum Brew House, Joyride Brewing Company, Call to Arms Brewing Company, Goldspot Brewing Company, and Little Machine Beer. Also on tap will be a singular St. Dominic’s “ALE-LELUIA!” Belgian Blonde, brewed by several St. Dominic parishioners and Br. Brent Bowen, O.P. in collaboration with Factotum Brew House.

Additional highlights of St. Dominic’s Oktoberfest include food from Prosit Fine Beers and Sausages and The Noshery, and live music entertainment from Isabella Daily, Jim Ehrlich and the Polka Mates, Josh Moorhead & The Guestlist sponsored by Highlands Animal Clinic, and a very special tribute concert honoring the memory of the beloved North Denver native musician Jimmy Trujillo by The Jimmy Trujillo Band featuring The Mood Express, sponsored by KUVO. A robust silent auction, beanbag toss, and bicycle valet by SloHi Bike Co. will round out the adult fun.

Families of all ages are welcome at St. Dominic’s Oktoberfest. Pumpkin painting activities, playground equipment, and root beer floats will be available for children in the interactive Kid’s Corner, and Denver Fire Station 12 will be onsite with their interactive fire truck display.

St. Dominic’s Oktoberfest is generously sponsored by KUVO, Joyride Brewing Company, Highlands Animal Clinic, Sloan’s Lake Dental, and RE/MAX.
