This Suicide Prevention Site Is Really Funny And It’s Working

“Give your mind the same attention you give your penis.”

1. Men account for 79% of all suicides in the United States each year.

The most at-risk? Those aged 25-54 — the very same group that is the least likely to seek treatment or ask for help.

2. Why? Well, because a lot of people still see mental health disorders as “unmanly signs of weakness.

Which is totally stupid. Just so we’re clear.

3. That’s where Dr. Rich Mahogany, Man Therapist, comes in.

Dr. Rich and ManTherapy.org is a bad ass collaboration between Denver-based advertising agency Cactus, the Office of Suicide Prevention at the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, and the Carson J Spencer Foundation, a Colorado-based suicide prevention nonprofit organization aimed at dismantling the barriers between men and their mental health, and it’s working.

4. Aside from funny videos, mantherapy.org offers up a super interactive web experience.

5. Visitors to Dr. Rich’s virtual office can access self-assessment tools, DIY resources to help fine tune your mental health at home, and of course Dr. Rich-approved man therapists near you.

He has a point, guys.

6. Aussie men are in luck too — turns out Dr. Rich Mahogany has a brother from another mother down under.

See Dr. Brian Ironwood in action HERE.

7. As Dr. Rich says, “You can’t fix your mental health with duct tape,” but manly breathing techniques are worth a try.

Chris Brown latest celebrity victim of ‘swatting’

http://twitter.com/#!/Flow935/status/293553522547519489
Singer Chris Brown is reportedly the latest victim of a “swatting” incident. TMZ reports:

Cops raced to Chris Brown’s Hollywood Hills home Monday afternoon … after someone called 911 and reported a domestic incident involving a gun, but we’re told it was all a prank.

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ … the caller claimed a mother and father were in a fight and the father went to another room in the house to get a gun. At that point the caller hung up, never mentioning it was Chris Brown’s house.

When cops arrived there was no evidence of a gunman or for that matter any dispute.

They sent swat teams to Chris brown crib for a domestic issue 😂😂😂

Bruce and Kris Jenner’s home was targeted in a similar fashion on Friday.

Ex-Arizona lawmaker pleads guilty to selling building belonging to non-profit

http://twitter.com/#!/ShowLowNews/status/180103355551596545
There’s embezzlement, and then there’s this:

Former Arizona Rep. Richard Miranda, who resigned from the Legislature last month citing family and health reasons, pleaded guilty Wednesday in federal court to felony wire fraud and attempted tax evasion.

The 56-year-old Democrat from Tolleson will be sentenced in June and could face up to 25 years in federal prison for selling a Surprise building owned by a non-profit he ran and pocketing the money.

He also will likely have to pay several hundred thousand dollars in restitution to the non-profit, Centro Adelante Campesino Inc., and tens of thousands of dollars in unpaid federal taxes to the Internal Revenue Service.

“I have accepted all responsibility for my actions,” Miranda said after the court hearing. “I would like to thank my family, friends and supporters in the community. I hope in the future I can overcome the hurt and disappointment I have caused.”

This case is the latest in a bipartisan string of ethical or criminal inquiries for the Arizona Legislature over the past two years. Republican Sen. Scott Bundgaard and Democratic Rep. Daniel Patterson faced criminal charges and ethics investigations amid domestic-violence allegations. And more than a dozen Republicans and Democrats were investigated over gifts or trips provided by Fiesta Bowl lobbyists.

Surprise? We imagine so.

Brit Hume: Wasserman Schultz ‘unusually brazen in her palpable falsehoods’

http://twitter.com/#!/Kimsfirst/status/243820456216502272
Oh, snap! Brit Hume took to Twitter to rightly give DNC Chair Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) the business for her pathological lying.

Mr. Hume also retweeted this gem.

Say what you will about Preibus, but he doesn't have DWS's apparent utter disdain for the truth. The press should notice this asymmetry.

— Timothy P Carney (@TPCarney) September 5, 2012

Debbie Wasserman “pants on fire” Schultz lies every time she opens her mouth.

I honestly don't think @dwstweets says any words that aren't either talking points or lies or both.

— L (@OrwellForks) September 7, 2012

As party chair, @DWStweets is supposed to be a whiny partisan. But getting caught in barefaced lies is something else. http://t.co/SIiyrZ6x

— Commentary Magazine (@Commentary) September 6, 2012

When will the rest of the media call her out?

So @DWSTweets tells 3 bald-faced lies & gets off with "alternate universe" comment. Meanwhile @CNN beats Ryan senseless for telling truth.

— John Nolte (@NolteNC) September 6, 2012

DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz keeps is telling bold-faced lies and the mainstream media doesn't seem to care: http://t.co/DsgqxUYj

— The Washington Times (@WashTimes) September 7, 2012

Huh. Fancy that. As Twitchy reported, Wasserman Schultz was caught in a blatant lie and was called out for it by Israeli Ambassador Michael Oren, whom she falsely quoted as saying that the GOP is dangerous for Israel.

Wasserman Schultz continues lying today.

@DWStweets spreading her lies again on FOX. I wonder if she teaches her kids that it's ok to lie.

— David Steidl (@steidlda) September 7, 2012

@Jennalee @FoxNews Rather than let @DWStweets just babble on with more lies, why not ask her tougher questions?

— Stacy (@lovethatbug1733) September 7, 2012

@DWStweets Oh Debbie if by "Jobs Growth" you mean "Jobs Shrink" then what you say about jobs is accurate. Your "Facts" are based on lies.

— JasonSpencer (@JasonLSpencer) September 7, 2012

@DWStweets What lies are you spreading today…..

— Patrick Ware (@PatrickWare1) September 7, 2012

— joe republic (@joerepublic1) September 7, 2012

@DWStweets @BarackObama please take a lie dector test before you open your mouth to the Americn people your lies and distortions are old

Bill Maher says GOP made up of ‘Jesus freaks’; followers, others pile on

http://twitter.com/#!/Dave77062/status/302827221524045824
We all know by now that Bill Maher has a free pass to say anything and get away with it. That he uses that pass so often makes many of his remarks not so much outrageous as merely groan-inducing. The man has followers, though, and unfortunately, they follow. We thought “Bible-thumpers” was the preferred term, but during a panel discussion last night, Maher theorized that the GOP has always been an “uneasy marriage” of Jesus freaks and plutocrats.

Isn’t he nice? “Maher: GOP Didn’t Suddenly Go ‘Off The Rails,’ Always Been Weird Mix Of ‘Jesus Freaks’” mediaite.com/tv/bill-maher-… via @mediaite

— Jedediah Bila (@JedediahBila) February 16, 2013

If there’s been an uptick in use of the word “plutocrat” on Twitter thanks to Maher, we haven’t seen it. Jesus freaks, on the other hand…. Maher would like to think he’s inspired all the talk, but religious bigotry is certainly not his exclusive domain.

.@billmaher has it wrong. GOP isn’t an alliance. It’s plutocrats manipulating Jesus freaks.

— Mark Bachrach (@markbachrach) February 16, 2013

@billmaherReligeous Conservatives (con men)ARE Jesus Freaks. They both have no morals/scruples and will steal every penny you have…

— Grrace (@Grracy) February 16, 2013

Republicans got coalition of billionaires, Jesus freaks, gay haters, gun lovers, & abortion fanatics, then claim it’s all about economy. Ha

— Fritz Alverez (@FritzAlverez) February 16, 2013

So…Im beginning to think the GOP likes the rich, old, homophobic white dude jesus freaks label…

— Oklahoma Adam™ (@OklahomaAdam) February 16, 2013

Jesus freaks piss me off

— Jake Clark (@JakeeClark2) February 16, 2013

Atheist are way better than Jesus freaks least there not shoving religon down your throat

— Taco wannabe(@Ashley_thoooo) February 16, 2013

Satanism is the most realistic religion out there. You Jesus freaks need to get a grip lol.

— Shipley Jayy  (@YelpihS_) February 15, 2013

Fucking Bible humpers… Jesus freaks annoy the shit out of me.. fuck off bro for reals

— katelyn moore (@katt_autumn) February 15, 2013

Hanging out with Jesus freaks do I get a medal for not killing myself

— dafuq? (@AbiiRose_) February 16, 2013

A quick burial at sea, like they did with Osama, would have prevented 2000 years of Jesus-freaks,pedo-priests & silly hats #teamjesus #atheist

— leonard obrien (@leonard_obrien) February 16, 2013

Jesus freaks.. just go home, stay in church.. Annoying AF

— D▲niel Morrow (@Thepopeofpeace) February 15, 2013

Mediaite has the video of Maher’s panel discussion if you’d like to see how quickly Democratic political strategist Donna Brazile jumps in to defend Christians. (Spoiler: she doesn’t.)

Not everyone wears the label as an insult, though.

Bill Maher like all Libs saves his biggest venom for his real enemy, Jesus Freaks. BM calls us Jesus Freaks because we are real threat.

— Mark Tenney (@MathFaithWorks) February 16, 2013

Dear world: Calling us “Jesus freaks” is a compliment …. Thank you.

— D▲vid C▲mpbell (@ThatDarnDave) February 16, 2013

A Catholic dad’s ‘rules for dating my daughter’ [photo]

http://twitter.com/#!/CatholicVote/status/481106630785110017
The right-minded Catholic dad was responding to this t-shirt manifesto from a “feminist dad” that went viral in the leftysphere last week:
http://twitter.com/#!/MZHemingway/status/479970901966848000
Can everyone agree on these rules:

1) Leave the grumpy uterus puppets at home.

2) Stay away from the giant marble vaginas.

Sarah Silverman: Right only cares about lives of ‘fetuses and rich white men’

http://twitter.com/#!/SarahKSilverman/status/355432077879033856
Bothered by the falsehood that conservatives care less about humanity than bitter lefties like her?

If only she could muster that much anger for comedians who joke about murdering the unborn.
