Cardinals star reportedly has ACL tear, retirement next?

After suffering a knee injury on Saturday during a routine 6-3 putout, early reports on six-time All Star Lance Berkman are that the slugger has a torn ACL and will likely miss at least the rest of the season.

An MRI is scheduled for today to confirm the diagnosis.

Due to the severity of the injury and the rehab time that comes with it, “Fat Elvis” is considering retirement.

If so, he’ll finish with 359 home runs, 1,197 RBIs, and one of the worst nicknames in the history of the game.

I mean, just picture what a fatter Elvis would look like. Come on.

…get well soon, Lance!

Richard Justice: I've exchanged texts with Lance Berkman, and he doesn't think he's going to play again this year.

If Lance Berkman's ACL is really torn, and he chooses to retire, it's a reminder about how few guys get to go out like Kerry Wood got to.

Lance Berkman is the only recent #Reds killer that I actually liked. I hope this injury is not the end for him.
