Entertaining At The Fall Festivals In Denver

As soon as September arrives, the temperatures in Denver cool and the air becomes crisp. This brings all kinds of new excitement and reason to celebrate.

Though there is plenty to do throughout the year there, fall is a special time. There are a number of different festivals and celebrations to take part in.

Within the first few weeks of September comes the Festival Italiano, an annual hullabaloo of Italian Food and drink. Some of the delicious cuisine that visitors can taste test here includes pasta, sausage, baked goods, pizza, produce, and gelato.

There are also a number of artisans that come to show their wares, including ceramics, sculpture, antique maps, and flowers. The bash is a cultural delight and will introduce you and your party to all different aspects of Italian heritage.

If you are interested in attending, it is usually held at Belmar. The dates change every year, so be sure to look up the event online before you leave for the city.

Another famous event in Denver is Oktoberfest, which usually occurs at the end of September or beginning of the month of October. The event is modeled after the annual celebration that takes place in Munich, Germany.

Despite Oktoberfest’s sometimes scandalous reputation, this party is actually appropriate for families and individuals with kids of all ages. There is music available from touring groups, dancers, children’s activities, and booths selling all different kinds of goods and German decor.

Those that are of German heritage will have a great time exploring the booths and eateries available here. Another October celebration that is fun for visitors of any age is the Fright Fest at Elitch Gardens in Denver.

Throughout the year, it is run as a regular amusement park with lots of fun rides and attractions for children and adults. However, the approach of Halloween brings spookiness and frights to Elitch Gardens.

Plenty of haunted houses and opportunities to trick or treat make the park a great place to spend the weekend. You can dress up in your costume and take part in all of the different festivities that Fright Fest has to offer.

A more relaxing but appropriate Halloween activity is to pay a visit to the Denver Botanic Garden for Pumpkin Fest. Here, thousands of pumpkins are ripe and ready to be picked by you and your family.

Once you find the perfect one, you can take it home with you and carve it into your favorite scene, character, or frightening ghoul! Pumpkin Fest also includes a number of different games and activities for children.

Usually, there are handcrafters that sell gifts and jewelry. There is a working farm where you can learn about all of the different types of animals found there.

There are also a great number of carnival rides on which to experience a thrill. The historical ranch at the garden offers tours for visitors, so you can learn about the site’s past.

Spending a relaxing afternoon at the Pumpkin Fest is a great way for you to enjoy being with your family and feel the autumn spirit. The weekend closest to Halloween is a festive one at the Denver Zoo.

The establishment hosts an event, called Boo at the Zoo, where visitors can participate in trick or treating from station to station and enjoying the decorations and atmosphere. It is the perfect place for children, because they can wear their costume, get a bag full of candy, and learn all about the various animals that live at the zoo!

Space is usually limited, so be sure that you buy your tickets ahead of time. The beginning of the month of November brings a little bit more sophistication and adult appropriate venues.

Denver Arts Week, which usually takes place the first week of that month, is a way to experience innovative and exciting activities. It involves special exhibitions at the different sites and art galleries throughout the city, and many of the museums participate in an evening full of free admission to all.

If you are traveling to the Mile-High City during the autumn, there are so many different activities that you can take part in and enjoy. Visiting Colorado during this time of years offers vacationers plenty of sights and sounds to entertain and entice them.
