Here Are 21 People Who Were So Close… Yet So Painfully Far Away. I Died Laughing At #7.

Why is it that the people who reach for the stars, the ones that truly try to fly close to the sun, seem to come crashing down harder than anyone else? I don’t know either, but no matter how close they get to achieving their goal, when they go wrong it can lead to hilarious results. Here’s 22 people that fit that description, EXACTLY! Hahaha.

1.) “I believe I can fly…”

2.) Irony, anyone?

3.) I’m betting who ever programmed this was using “leguana.”

4.) Really?

5.) Have to love city planners.

6.) Hahaha.

7.) Oh, honey.

8.) Please tell me he’s wearing protection.

9.) #autocorrectfail

10.) 0_0

11.) Enginerds unite, save us!

12.) Way to think outside the box little guy.

13.) Sooo close.

14.) Won’t be trying out for gymnastics anytime soon.

15.) LOL.

16.) Gonna need some moving insurance.

17.) 🙂

18.) Well when you’re owners are lazy.

19.) Future engineer?

20.) Meow.

21.) This is awesome.

I don’t know about you, but I definitely have a smile on my face. I just hope my big “fail” doesn’t end up on YouTube 😉 (H/T: BuzzFeed)

The Most Disgusting Part Of These Photos Is What’s Hidden by These Piles of Trash. OMG.

If you were to walk by a river and saw trash floating down it, you’d probably be disgusted. Pollution is a terrible, passive attack on the world around us. If it bothers you, though, then we suggest staying out of Indonesia. There is a body of water called the Citarum river in Indonesia that would make you gag on sight. It is so polluted and filled with trash, you can’t even see the water. I’m not joking.

Nearly 5 million people live at the basin of the river, but their activity is just a fraction of the reason why the river is so clogged with trash.

memolition.com

Nearby textile factories are heavy contributors of toxic waste to the water.

memolition.com

More than 2,000 industries contaminate 5,020 sq miles of the river with lead, mercury, arsenic and other toxins.

memolition.com

This disgusting river supports local agriculture, water supply, fishery, industry, sewerage, electricity and more.

memolition.com

The extremely dirty river flows downstream into rice paddies where families dangerously use it to clean, cook, wash and drink.

memolition.com

It is known as the most polluted river in the world, and we can see why.

memolition.com

But even on an individual level, humans constantly pollute the river with their trash and waste.

memolition.com

It’s hard to imagine what kind of bacteria and viruses are breeding within the dirty waters of the Citarum river. But, for the local people in Indonesia, it’s one of the water supplies they must rely on to stay alive. In December of 2008, the Asian Development Bank approved a $500 million loan for cleaning up the river. To this day, it’s still considered one of the world’s most polluted. I’ve never felt so happy to have clean drinking water.

Seven Foreign Films to Add International Flair to Your Halloween Movie Lineup.

The U.S. certainly does not have the market cornered on horror movies. Fear is universal, and tales of terror have originated from around the world since the existence of storytelling. Foreign horror films are a double treat because not only do you get the scares, but you also get a glimpse of the ways human fears manifest in other cultures. Plenty of foreign horror films have also been remade for American audiences, like Ju-On (The Grudge) and Ringu (The Ring), as have some of the films on this list.

These are seven films of non-U.S. origin that will scare the pants off you. There are a lot more, of course, but these are some of our favorites.

[REC], 2007
IMDb This Spanish film was recreated almost shot for shot in the American adaptation, Quarantine. It tells the tale of a young reporter following a firefighting squad around for the evening. They're called to an apartment complex where a medical emergency has taken place, and soon they find themselves locked in with the residents. They're also trapped with a terrifying illness that turns people into zombies. If you've seen Quarantine, you've essentially seen this, but there's something to be said for seeing the original.
Dumplings, 2004
IMDb This icky film from Hong Kong stars Miriam Yeung as an aging former TV star mourning the loss of her youth. She meets up with a surgeon-turned-black market chef who supplies her with just the thing to turn back time. The film makes the special ingredient of these anti-aging dumplings clear from the start, so you'll know exactly what you're in for, but that's only the beginning.
Let the Right One In, 2008
IMDb Oskar is an outcast, friendless and bullied in school, until he meets Eli. She's a mysterious girl who moves into his apartment complex. The two become friends fast, but there's definitely something off about Eli, who only seems to come out at night and has to be invited in before she steps foot in Oskar's place. This was remade in the U.S. as Let Me In with Chloe Grace Moretz, but the original Swedish version is superior, if quieter.
Kwaidan/Ghost Stories, 1964
IMDb This collection tells four spooky stories from Japan, including the classic "Hoichi the Earless." The stories are set up much like stage plays, with the atmospheres created by the set design rather than by any special effects (also, it was made in 1964). Besides being visually striking, the tales are downright chilling, and, in the case of "The Woman in the Snow," some are deeply sad.
Trollhunter, 2010
IMDb Norway is known as the land of trolls for a really good reason, as this found-footage monster flick illustrates. A group of students are investigating what appears to be the poaching of several bears. The truth, though, is a lot more dangerous. This film has some scares, but it's also a lot of fun, and the special effects are surprisingly good.
He Loves Me...He Loves Me Not, 2002
IMDb This isn't your standard chiller fare, at least not for the first bit. It follows Angelique, a young artist blissfully in love with a doctor. He's married, but she's sure he's planning on leaving his wife for her. Of course, that's how it is from her point of view. From his point of view, things are quite different. The cutesy style of this movie makes everything so much creepier.
Hour of the Wolf, 1968
IMDb Ingmar Bergman is known for his eerie, psychological films, and this might be the closest he gets to actual horror. An artist and his young, unassuming wife are vacationing on a remote island. The artist soon finds himself plagued by manifestations of his own troubled psyche. The manifestations aren't content to stay in his mind, though, and things get out of hand.

When it comes to foreign films, some people have an issue with subtitles, but I’m going to say this: English dubs are always terrible, and when it comes to horror films, where the mood is everything, there’s no worse disservice you can do. Suck it up and read the subtitles. Just don’t count on sleeping with the lights off when you go to bed after watching these.

Star Crossed Lovers Are Lynched and Beheaded by Their Families

An Indian couple faced an unbelievable and horrific fate this week. Nidhi Barak, 20, and Dharmender Barak, 23, were a young couple in love. However, their families didn’t approve of the match. They were so against it that the couple eloped to nearby Dehli, but then their families seemed to have a change of heart and claimed they would approve of the match.

What happened next will make you sick to your stomach.

The couple were lured home by their families, who then proceeded to beat them both, lynch the woman and then beheaded the young man.

Their only crime was being in a relationship that their families didn’t approve of.

Police found Nidhi’s family as they were cremating her body. Dharmender’s body was intact and both have been sent for post-mortem. The authorities are now trying to track down the family members responsible for the brutal murders.

Share this to spread the word about these horrific acts, so that we can all work together to end it.
