That’s when this guy gave him his heart.

He had a hunch that his girlfriend wanted him to go to Tim Hortons.

And he was right!

Next up was a trip to McDonald’s.

That’s when she really started testing him.

Fortunately, Cupples managed to track down another note in the heart of the forest. That one sent him to a local grocery store.

He came across this hint while checking out.

After spending money on gas, food, and groceries, she let him run to the bank.

To make sure that he was full when the big moment rolled around, she sent Cupples to his favorite pizza joint.

Almost there!

The final clue brought him back to where it all began.

When he arrived, his number one girl was right there waiting for him. That’s when she asked him to be her husband. Cupples wrapped up the Sadie Hawkins-inspired surprise by saying yes!

He plans on wearing the ring on a chain, and he’s going to get her a ring, too. Congrats to the happy couple on their wonderful engagement!

Apparently, Beer Used To Be Considered A Legitimate Form Of Medicine

For anyone who’s even remotely familiar with history, it’s no secret that life was very different during the Victorian Era. Most of our coverage of the period here on ViralNova focuses on Victorian death rituals, but let’s take a different approach today.

Instead of keeping things morbid, we’re going to talk about something that almost everyone can get behind: beer.

Believe it or not, Victorians used beer for medicinal reasons. Beginning in the late 1800s, bartenders sometimes doubled as pseudo-physicians.

One of the most common medicinal beverages was known as “malt extract,” which was a mixture of hops and malt with an unusually high alcohol content. It was so alcoholic, in fact, that it easily made people forget about their troubles.

These so-called “therapeutic beers” promised to cure everything from gonorrhea to insomnia. Oddly enough, they were also prescribed for hangovers.

While name-brand breweries got in on the action by producing their own medicinal tonics, many smaller operations sprung up all over the country. One of the most notable was the Liebmann Breweries franchise.

While all of those tonics felt good going down, they certainly never cured anything. In fact, there’s a good chance that they just made people feel worse in the long run.

Gingerbread Houses Aren’t Just For The Holidays — And They Aren’t Always Houses

Every Christmas, families around the world build gingerbread houses. While these are holiday staples, they’re usually pretty small. Holding structures together with frosting is a pretty difficult task, after all!

But the people behind this creation didn’t let that get in the way of their desire to recreate one of the most popular buildings in the world — the fictional world, that is.

They went ahead and made Hogwarts out of cookies!

Using nothing but the usual suspects, they brought the mythical institution to life.

And they didn’t leave out a single detail.

The result was something too beautiful to eat!

Building even the simplest gingerbread houses is no small feat, so we applaud these people for their hard work! Will you try to tackle this project next year?

This Coloring Book Was Designed By Someone Who Had His Eyes Closed The Entire Time

A new trend in books has taken the world by storm, and it’s not what you would expect. No, it’s not another series like Harry Potter or The Hunger Games — it’s something much more elementary. Welcome to the wonderful world of adult coloring books.

And one take on the trend has opened quite a few eyes in New York City. Artist Ian Sklarsky just developed a coloring book in collaboration with Yotel NYC by using a method called blind contouring. This process involves drawing with your eyes closed so that the only guide you have is the image in your mind.

Wanting to give visitors a unique experience, the team at Yotel NYC enlisted the help of artist Ian Sklarsky to create a coloring book that would entertain more mature guests.

Using a method called blind contouring, he filled the book with artful images that are anything but childish.

Instead of focusing on perfection, Sklarsky concentrated intently on the illustrations that he wanted to create and drew from what appeared in his mind.

That’s why blind contour artists draw with their eyes closed. Another interesting element of this technique is that creators don’t lift their pens or pencils from the paper until the piece is complete.

“My art simply shows that there aren’t any wrongs,” Sklarsky explained. “It’s about the enjoyment of figuring out how to get from point A to point B without looking.”

The resulting coloring book is as intriguing as it is entertaining.

Each illustration is totally abstract, but the subjects are still recognizable.

Most of the scenes are familiar to people who love to travel.

There is a method to the madness, and Sklarsky loves unleashing his creative energy on projects like this.
