Our government can’t get its act together at home, so it’s not much of a stretch to assume it’s a mess abroad, too. Still, this is pretty ridiculous. The U.S. Embassy in Cairo, rather infamous now for tweeting things it shouldn’t, advised a Sudanese student seeking to study in the U.S. to contact the U.S. Embassy in Khartoum in order to obtain a visa. Just one problem: the embassy in Khartoum has been closed since September.

Special Announcement: Update November 12, 2012: All visa services at the U. S. Embassy in Khartoum are still suspended until further notice.

On September 14, 2012 protestors attacked the U. S. Embassy in Khartoum, Sudan. For security reasons the Consular Section is closed to the public until further notice. The Embassy regrets the inconvenience this temporary suspension causes for persons wishing to visit the United States. At this time, we do not know when the U. S. Embassy will resume Consular and visa services. Please monitor our website for information on resumption of service.

The student quickly discovered that Cairo’s help wasn’t all that helpful:

Ha! Cannot rely on the lapdoggies. They are far too busy carrying water and calling violent Ryan protesters “spirited,” while ignoring the fired up enthusiasm for #RomneyRyan2012 and the passion for freedom. What scares them most? Freedom-loving Americans who won’t submit to bullying.

All the fundraising in the world won’t quash freedom. To paraphrase Ronald Reagan, there is nothing so formidable as the will and moral courage of free men and women. And President Obama, and his fellow travelers, are clearly running scared.

Seven boys from a Marysville middle school could be charged with a felony in what police say was a sexually motivated assault on a school bus.

Police and school officials haven’t described what actually happened on the school bus To Marysville Middle School where the boys are accused of surrounding a 13-year old girl in a sexually motivated assault.

Though the bus driver was unable to see what happened, a surveillance video onboard the bus recorded the incident.

The school district said four of the boys in the case have been expelled from the district, and three others were suspended until the end of the year.

‘Sexually motivated assault’ seems a curious construction.
